HLC Review Team Visit Next Week

provost-dan-howardThe Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Review Team will be on the Las Cruces campus next Monday and Tuesday (November 13 and 14) to meet with the faculty, staff, and administrators of NMSU as part of our reaffirmation of accreditation. Some of you have already received invitations to meetings on specific topics relevant to your responsibilities at NMSU. For those of you who have not been invited to a limited topic meeting, I encourage you to attend one of the open forums or one of the drop-in meetings.

The open forum on criteria 1 (Mission) and 2 (Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct) will be held from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Monday in Yates Auditorium of the Domenici Building. The open forum on criteria 3 (Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources, and Support) and 4 (Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement) will be held from 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Corbett Center East Ballroom on the third floor. The open forum on criterion 5 (Resources, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness) will take place from 10:30-11:30 a.m., again in the Corbett Center East Ballroom.

A drop-in session for faculty members will take place in Milton Hall Room 50 from 8-8:45 a.m. on Tuesday. A drop-in session for staff will be held concurrently (8-8:45 a.m.) in Milton Hall Room 81. Faculty, staff, and administrators from the Grants campus will meet with a member of the Review Team on Monday morning.

The full schedule for the visit, and additional information, including the full Assurance Argument and Grants Campus Report, can be found at https://provost.nmsu.edu/aa-final/ or https://accreditation.nmsu.edu/.

Preparations for this visit began three years ago when we began to assemble the writing teams that wrote the various sections of the Assurance Argument. It has been a long process, but for almost everyone involved, it has been rewarding as virtually any deep dive into NMSU reveals remarkable, life-changing work being done on a daily basis by a dedicated and accomplished faculty and staff. Thank you for your good work; let’s share it with our visitors.

With all best wishes,
