We Are NMSU – April 24, 2025
Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to share that the search committee for the Vice President for Research, Creativity, and Economic Development has completed its work and identified a group of finalists. We invite and encourage your participation in the upcoming campus visits, where you will have the opportunity to meet and engage with the candidates. Please keep an eye on the NMSU Hotline for details regarding the dates, times, and locations of each visit.
In addition, I hope you will join us in celebrating the achievements of our research community by attending the Postdoc, Graduate Research and Arts Symposium, and Undergraduate Research and Arts Symposium Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Monday, April 28 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Pete’s Patio, Corbett Center Student Union. This event recognizes the dedication and success of our graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and undergraduate researchers — your presence would mean a great deal to them.
Finally, as we near the end of the semester, I remind all faculty to submit coursework and exam grades in a timely manner. Prompt grading is important in supporting our students’ academic progress, degree planning, and future opportunities. As one parent thoughtfully noted, “If students are penalized for submitting work late, that practice doesn't seem to reconcile with grading being done late.”
Thank you for your continued commitment to our academic and research mission. Your engagement — whether through participating in the VP search process, supporting our student and postdoc awardees, or ensuring timely grading — helps strengthen our community and reinforces the values that make NMSU a student-centered institution. I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming events and wish you a strong finish to the semester. We are NMSU.
Sincerely,
Lakshmi Reddi
Interim Provost
