Alan R. Shoho, dean and professor emeritus of the School of Education the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has been named New Mexico State University's new provost and chief academic officer following a national search.

OIA moves to Institutional Effectiveness office

The Office of Institutional Analysis is now structurally positioned within the Office of the Provost, under the umbrella of Institutional Effectiveness. In this model institutional analysis, accreditation, assessment, academic program review and the Center for Community Analysis converge under the direction of Associate Provost Shelly Stovall. This move supports NMSU LEADS 2025 Goal 4 to build a robust system of efficient and effective services that support NMSU’s academic mission. Valued staff and their positions and duties will remain consistent and no significant disruptions in service to the campus community and beyond are anticipated.

Dr. R.T. James McAteer has been selected as the first Senior Associate Provost. Dr. McAteer's positive involvement with faculty and students and his leadership style will be helpful to operations in the Provost Office and he wants to be a "conduit of communication" for students, faculty and academic staff.
