We Are NMSU – July 31, 2025
Dear colleagues,
Student services on campus are an essential part of our learning environment. As we start the 2025-26 academic year, I would like to make sure our campus community is aware of the wealth of services available on our campus. This summer, NMSU’s Student Life has built extraordinary momentum in advancing student success, engagement, and well-being. I am proud to share a glimpse of what is ahead.
- Investing in Student Well-being. The Aggie Health & Wellness Center has been reaccredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and has expanded services, including preventive HIV treatment and mental health screenings, ensuring students receive the holistic care they need to thrive.
- Creating Spaces for Success. Phase I of the $4 million Aggie Fitness Center renovation is now complete. This revitalized space offers students a place to recharge, stay active, and find balance as they pursue academic goals.
- Meeting Basic Needs. Pete’s Pop-Up Pantry, opening this fall in Corbett Center, will expand food access across campus, building on the impact of the Aggie Cupboard and helping students stay focused on their goals.
- Upholding Our Core Values. We continue to foster a culture of academic integrity and personal accountability. Faculty are encouraged to report concerns at report.nmsu.edu or connect with Student Conduct staff at scs@nmsu.edu for guidance and support.
- Fostering Belonging. Last year alone, more than 6,400 events drew over 13,000 student participants. Crimson Connection connects students to over 200 student organizations and leadership opportunities, building friendships and purpose that last.
Our signature tradition, Crimson Kickoff, returns Aug. 16 to Sept. 18, with 30 days of campus-wide events to welcome students and spark their Aggie pride. I also invite you to join us for Aggie Beginnings: First-Year Convocation, Walk, and Photo on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m. The event begins at starting the Pan American Center and concludes at the Miller Gates, an unforgettable celebration of our newest students’ journey ahead.
And do not miss our new video series, “The Crimson Story,” which brings student voices to the forefront and highlights how our programs transform lives. The first episode features Rudy Hernandez, a veteran and academic advisor whose NMSU experience helped him find family and purpose. As Rudy puts it, it felt like joining “a family.” You can watch the series now on YouTube.
I want to thank Dean Ann Goodman and her staff for their efforts to create a safe and vibrant space for all our students. Together, we are creating an exciting, supportive, and student-centered university where every Aggie can thrive. We are NMSU.
Sincerely,
Lakshmi N. Reddi
