Consolidation of Data Offices
Dear colleagues,
Effective immediately, all staff working on academic data-related activities in the Office of Information Technology, Office of Academic Affairs, and NMSU-Global will join the Office of Institutional Analysis (OIA) as one Office to serve as single source of truth, and to bring consistency and quality in data development, analyses, and reporting. I am please to announce that Dr. Gabe V. Garcia has been selected as the Provost Fellow to oversee this consolidation, bring clarity to the roles and responsibilities of staff, and improve operational efficiencies. Dr. Garcia will collaborate across all units at NMSU including NMSU Global, IT, and Enrollment Management, to strengthen data consistency and quality, communication, reporting, and facilitate strategic decision-making university-wide. Selection of the Provost Fellow was made by a committee representing NMSU Global, IT, and Enrollment Management.
Dr. Gabe Garcia, who is serving as the Interim Associate Dean of Academics and Michael and June Gittings Endowed Chair in the College of Engineering, will dedicate part of his time to this task during the next several months, and prepare the office for a permanent organizational structure. Staffing needs will be assessed in light of our needs as an R1 university with increased focus on enrollment management and student success. As an NMSU alumnus and with more than 35 years of service to NMSU as a faculty member and administrator, Dr. Garcia brings a proven record of translating institutional data into actionable strategies that improve student outcomes and academic programs.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Garcia and welcoming him to this important role.
Sincerely,
Lakshmi N. Reddi
Interim Provost
